SOME BACKGROUND TO STAND ON SOLID GROUND

Common goal: we need to get a more economically and environmentally sustainable agricultural system to maintain feasibility of feeding the country/world and having farmers thrive.

Yet still something is not flowing as it should. There is a critical element missing in solving this problem. The link between the policy makers and the farmers.

The recent protest of Dutch farmers shows that there is a need for better communication between farmer and politicians. Policy makers want there to be more sustainable farming and farmers in turn want the exact same thing. However, it has to be economically feasible on both sides.

We are here to create a platform to start conversation and to inspire to look for solutions outside of the box.

The common goal is there. It is stated on several websites of political parties.

D66

Member of parliament Tjeerd de Groot: “70% of the Dutch nitrogen emissions come from agriculture, a large part of which comes from intensive livestock farming. That is huge. At  the same time, the contribution of intensive livestock farming to our own economy is less than 1%.The ratio is completely lost."

PVDA

We want the agricultural sector to become healthy, as an economic sector and as a carrier of the countryside, and to contribute to the solution of the world food problem. We want healthy food from sustainable agriculture that recognizes the boundaries of the planet, that the consumer trusts, that values animal welfare and has a fair distribution of merits in the chain (fair trade). A food chain with a heart for people, animals and nature.

GROENLINKS

GroenLinks believes it is important that the entire agricultural sector becomes more sustainable.

VVD

We are proud of the hard-working entrepreneurs in agriculture and horticulture. We not only want to maintain their strong position, but also improve it further.

CDA

Our farmers and market gardeners make a major contribution to our fair economy. They provide healthy, safe and good food and the most beautiful flowers and plants for consumers around the world. Moreover, they play an important role in the sustainable management of nature and greenery in the Netherlands.
